CLS is completely new, r2 has most of the light side faction tags, it's not like he's only or primarily a rebel - he's a rebel because he's everything.

GK is Republic & Jedi
Thrawn is Empire
DN is Sith

I don't know why everyone says that all the best toons are rebels. There was a FO toon and a Sith toon that could each solo p1/HAAT in a one-toon squad before CLS was released. Sure, CLS can do it now, but you could already do it with 2 of the better toons in the game. And both were dark side.

Moreover, the movies were all about the Galactic Republic, the Rebels and then the Resistance. With the semi-exception of the Episode3, none of the movies had a dark side user as a central character. Obi-Wan had more lines than Darth in Episode4.

If you like the movies, what's your problem with rebels?

Now, okay, I want faction balance too. I'd like to see a number of factions get more love, but the Sith faction has every toon they can throw at it plus a few (Savage was never a Sith unless you want to say that Ventress was a Sith, and the Sith Trooper and Darth Nihilus never appear in any of the Movies, nor in CW:TAS nor in SW:Rebels). Empire needs a healer pretty desperately, but they've got some great toons.

So, yes, there are too many rebels just by the number of toons released. But if you ask what percentage of rebels get to be top-tier toons, the sheer number of mediocre Rebels make it ridiculous to assert that merely being a rebel is a toon's best path to great power in this game. Toon by toon, the Sith have a much better average utility than the Rebels.
