12hr phases would be bad no matter what time zone you are in. One phase may be convenient but the next would be the opposite. Assuming you sleep 8 hrs and work 8 hrs, you would have little time to do a phase. Especially if you sleep 8 hrs and get up and go to work for 8 hrs like a lot of people do.
24hr phases are doable. But anything less than that is just nuts. I like the 36hrs though and if they aren't going to double the tbs then there's no reason to cram it into 4 days and then have 2 days of nothing.
