- I'm stoked. Can't wait for the rest.
This past episode was easily the best episode of the season so far, if not the series.
Very cleverly written. Thrawn is a total genius; it was also amazing watching him battle those assassin droids. I have new respect for Kallus. Super excited for the end of the season. It will be a doozy. "Star_trollz;934792" wrote:

Got it. So no room for Luke (ep4), Anakin (ep2), Rey, Ahsoka... please continue."Carbonari;934803" wrote:

To be honest, that is one of the few things that makes Star Trek so much more enjoyable than Star Wars. And did anybody enjoy the moment when Anakin went berserk on those Tuskens? It was poorly executed and a mixture between preditcable boredom and LoL Moments.
The new Trilogy (for me at least) is bad overall. I only enjoyed the lightsaber Duels (be honest, that is why we're here) and the second half of Ep III.
It is this "make it for the whole family by throwing a lot of childish crap in it" that prevents Star Wars from being Top Notch SciFi.
And there is difference between a father whos gone bad as a twist and the son must battle the father (old Trilogy) and constantly throwing little kids stuff around like "do you trust me?" when a freaking sabotage mission of the small rebellion is at stake. And it goes on and on, the whole time "why do we do this? - because we are family", "I (a thirteen year old scoundrel) don't get to lead the mission? You don't trust me" - "yeah allright, let's put him in charge of those men, because we trust him and we are a family", and so on.
And then there are the painfully generic characters (with some expcetions, which are not the main cast...) ....
I am not saying that Clone Wars doesn't have the same problems (really?!? A thirteen year old Padavan is Commander of soldiers??), but waaaaay less frequently than rebels. That is because of the setup: Rebels is basically more about the crew than about the rebellion.
I am also not saying that every single episode is painful to watch. There are some real gems. But honestly you have to look for them. And yes, I did watch them all. I mean, when Ahsoka meets Vader, THAT was great moment with great dialogue and action."hilikus;935166" wrote:

I'm not going to rehash the sci-fi vs. fantasy argument, but Star Wars is definitely fantasy with sci-fi elements.
The kids stuff has always been there and frankly, I'd rather have a few juvenile bildungsroman morality lessons than horribly stereotypical racist accents and whole scenes built around fart jokes.
Super unpopular opinion: Rebels is actually better (or will become better) than The Clone Wars simply because the source material is better. Rebels doesn't have to try as hard to be good, because it is based on the rebellion era. Same goes for Rogue One. The Clone Wars had to make the prequels look not even good, not even interesting, but acceptable. That's a huge load to carry. So it struggled with that, and we ended up with some good episodes once it gained traction. Rebels doesn't have that struggle. It can build on the best aspects of Clone Wars while still being rooted in the time of the Galactic Civil War.
The old EU was an attempt to bring different genres and themes to Star Wars; some of it worked, a lot of it didn't, I still ate it up. The new canon seems to have a bit more respect for the source material and it is going in some interesting directions. It's an exciting time to be a Star Wars fan.- Everyone hates rebels because it and some dumb gimmicks but honestly I look the way Disney cannon is going better than the EU. The EU had some much junk that made is dumb. Like Palatine coming back in clone bodies or a light sabor whip.
- I rather see more tusken raiders, a fraction for the characters that don't have ones currently like the miniature pig guy and police dude.

Very excited. My kids love the series and my wife an I enjoy it as well. Certainly much better than the Clone Wars series which was all over the place at times. - I'm happy with Chopper. Looking forward to other Rebels characters and Ghost, but would rather have Cassian's U-Wing.

It also had some incredible moments, like an alien invasion that wiped out 100 trillion people and Luke Skywalker becoming such a badass that I would buzz anytime it even hinted he would be going out to kick some dark side ass
I personally think Disney put Star Wars in a hole - they don't ruin everything (see the MCU) but I hated episode VII, and I have been a die hard Star Wars fan since I was 4 and own every novel ever released (maybe that is why I am so bitter, thanks for ruining my collection, Lucas)
HOWEVER
Despite my lack of enthusiasm for the Rebels characters, I also said I would never get an episode VII character, and had to give in because Rey was the best toon at the time, hands down
So I am open to them bringing new people in, just wish we would stop with Rebel characters, there are plenty as it is- I knew that we would eventually get characters from the show. Can't say I'm disappointed that they've arrived
