Hoarding or saving or resource management or whatever term people use to mean the same thing is irrelevant. Saving up some resources to spend wisely is definitely part of the game.
However, it isn’t a binary state. Hoard/don’t hoard. Things have degrees. How much are we expected to hoard to be able to use a character we needed months of work, several teams of highly geared characters, and (for quite a few people) hundreds of dollars to get?
If CG thinks that after all that, we still need to have spent 5 months hoarding up 68,400 GET (enough for 28.5 fully crafted stun gun prototypes) before we get our reward then they are nuts. I’m sure there are people who will say that’s fine. However that is an unreasonably high expectation for the majority of paying customers to meet, and still be happy about. IT SUCKS. And all the whales I know who have quit recently agree.
It’s melodramatic to say anything one situation is killing the game. We will never just see a healthy game one day, and the servers off the next. However, repeatedly making decisions a large enough percentage of your customers hate will slowly choke it.
