Getting "double charged" for raid attempts

In my time zone, character refresh is at midnight. This is for both daily activities and character refresh for non-T7 raids. Lately I've noticed I'm being charged for two attempts under a specific scenario.

Let's say I decide to make a raid attempt at 11:57 PM. It "costs" me one raid attempt for that day to start it. I finish said raid attempt after midnight, and then I'm left with only four more attempts for the new day. So in effect, I "paid" to start a raid attempt on one day, and I'm being "charged" for that attempt on the next day as well.

This has happened to me SEVERAL times. I have to imagine this is a bug. I know this thread belongs in the Bugs forum, but there is significantly more traffic here in GD and I wanted to know who else out there is having this problem.

Any idea if the devs are aware of this issue @cg_kozispoon?

Thanks to all for your insight

The reason it works this way is because you are charged for your raid attempt once it is completed, not when you start it. So you are only being charged once, at completion which is after midnight.
If you were charged when you started it then you would waste attempts with retreat and force closing the app, like in arena, which would be worse.

Has to be one or the other. I think the majority would take the option of going for better rng and not having attempts count till they finished a run. It makes sense in arena that it is charged when you start and makes sense in raid that you are charged when you finish.

    +1

You walk into bar at 11.57. You get that beer, but if you've not finished it by the time bar closes, you're kicked out, and half pint of beer stays there. Perfect analogy.

Except that's not what he said, nor is that how any bar works. They either have a cut off for ordering or they let you finish. That's just business. The analogy was flawed from the ground up, don't defend it.

As for the issue, I take issue with it simply because you need to have an open attempt for the current day to start an attack, so that's the attempt that should be used in a perfect world. I can't use my five for the day and then start a new one at 11:57 since I know it's going to go past midnight and use a charge from the next day after all.

All that said, this isn't a perfect world, and neither is coding. Fixing this seems like it could be overly complicated for such a small issue (And I call it a small issue with my guild being overseas, so my reset time is really inconvenient and I run into this a fair amount). It could also cause other issues and bugs with similar resets elsewhere like the previously mentioned arena payouts.

I'd love it if this were changed, but there's other stuff that needs addressed that's more important.
  • If the battles opportunities were spent when you start the battle then people would be severely penalized for retreating to start over

That too, which seems to be the consensus others arrived at before I finished my overly long post... ;)

In my country, that's how bars work. If you don't finish your drink before bar closes, too bad. You'll get kicked out without finishing your beer.
