Grand Arena timeout error.

So for the last team I had to battle with my opponent I wasn’t sure if my Jedi could take them out. I wanted to get my GK to beat it with a smaller squad. So I went in and took out 4 toons with a different squad, and let the battle time out, so my Jedi would only have one toon to fight. I got an error after it timed out, and now my opponent's full squad is there again. Is that normal?
