It's based on your arena team with the highest power that you've won with, has nothing to do with teams you send in on node 1. I send the same team in on node 1 everyday Wedge g8, Biggs g10, HRSc g10, Leia g10, STH g11. Somedays a get an easy node 12 sometimes its just a bunch of tanks, sometimes its a decent team. Either way node 11 still usually has the hardest teams.
It's based on highest Squad Power used, whether in Arena or GW. If your Arena Squad Power is higher, obviously putting in a weak team in GW node 1 is not going to change anything for you. Putting in a bunch of tanks for Squad Arena is silly, so sending in your highest Squad Power into somewhere easy like GW node 1 to break your GW nodes is a much better choice.
