"Hiro" Discussion (AKA "New Character #4")

Another SUPER EARLY new character kit. Note that Conduit hasn't done a pass on all the upgrade levels. This particular character is heavily in flux, and does some new unique things never before seen so we want to get feedback really early in the process before we decide if we're definitively going this route with this character.

Character #4
Side: Neutral (character can be used in both light and dark battles)
Class: Support
Stats: (on a scale of 1-5 where 5 is best), Health 3, Speed 4, Protection 4, Armor 2, Resistance 3, Potency 4, Tenacity 4,
Kit:
1) Basic: Attack for physical damage. This attack deals much higher damage than normal but cannot crit on its own. Gain 5% crit chance for every debuff target unit is suffering from.
2) Special 1: Attack an enemy for special damage. If that enemy is a support N% chance to remove Y turn meter. If the target is a tank N% chance to inflict DEF down. If the Target is an attacker N% chance to inflict OFF Down.
3) Special 2: Deal low special damage to an enemy. If that enemy is currently taunting, N% chance to switch the taunt to stealth for one turn.
a. Upgrade: If the enemy has foresight, chance to inflict Root for one turn
b. Upgrade: If the enemy has advantage, chance to inflict Blind for one turn.
4) (Unique): N% chance to grant or ally advantage after taking damage.
5) (Leader): characters in Character’s party gain N potency while Character is alive. Non- dark side characters gain half of this effect. characters in Characters’s party gain N tenacity while Character is alive. Non- light side characters gain half this effect.
New Debuffs:
Root – Target cannot evade or dodge attacks.
Blind – Basic attacks have a 100% miss chance.
  • Added bonus to this character's introduction: New Ship: The Ebon Hawk. Pilots: Hiro and Maniac

This is Darth Revan... Please let this be Darth Revan. The "Whenever Maniac defeats any unit that is not a droid, he gains health equal to 15-25% of Hiro's maximum health and protection equal to 15-25% of Hiro's maximum protection." Means "Maniac" HAS to be HK-47. He just HAS to be. HK-47 has no love for meatbags!

I actually hope so... So it will shut the has to be canon peeps up.

I have always wondered why there is a difference with special and physical damage. Is it just so different abilities can have different crit chances? That is really the only thing I see it doing.

Armor and resistance also allow different behavior of toons against those damages

Yes but it still begs the question what is the point? why not just one. having 2 types just seems to cause more bugs and more stats to try and check when modding.
  • Some adjustments: (changes in bold)

Unique 1: At the start of every turn, recover 2% of Hiro's maximum Health and Protection for every living Jedi or Sith ally. At the start of every turn, inflict one Damage Over Time effect for every living Sith ally to one random enemy unit.

Unique 2: Unique 1 Upgrade 7 (omega/Zeta): For each ally that is defeated, Hiro gains +12.5% maximum Health and Protection.

Leader: Anytime an allied Jedi recovers health, they also recover 1-5% of Hiro's Maximum HP and gain bonus protection equal to 1-10% of Hiro's maximum protection. Anytime an allied Sith inflicts a debuff or kills a unit, they recover 1-10% of Hiro's Maximum HP and gain bonus protection equal to 1-10% of Hiro's maximum protection. "Maniac" receives both of these bonuses if present.

Upgrade 7 (omega/Zeta): If there is only one allied unit remaining, and that unit is a Jedi, Sith, or Maniac, that unit recovers 100% Protection and gains 100% turn meter.
  • Would the protection bonuses stack? If say sid or vader did their aoe debuffs, for 15 debuffs altogether, would they gain 150% of Hiro's protection or 10%?

Same question for multiple hots for jedi part.

That lead paired with Bariss Swift recovery will make for some long living Jedi.
    Crit hit
    Recovers 20% of own health + 5% of Hiro health + 10% Hiro's protection
    on attack
recovers health for health steal + 5% of Hiro health + 10% Hiro's protection

Is this character still on course for release?

A little behind the scenes explanation: In order to release units, we need several types of approvals, and it takes several departments working over the course of several weeks. This character's earlier kit was approved by LucasFilm last year, but then we had to work on Rogue One units and this one was back-burnered.

A change in kit requires re-submission to Lucas. And now we've been told some things that will make it much more difficult to release this character and any from the same... source. There is a way around that for this specific unit, but it's going to require a lot of work (new art, etc) and the focus right now is elsewhere. So, for now, still on the backburner.

We plan units months in advance, and right now Hiro isn't on the schedule. However I am constantly pushing for him, and most of us here agree we definitely want to put Hiro in the game. It's just a question of finding the right time and right set of circumstances to do so.

I will likely keep periodically updating this kit so that it stays reasonably meta-relevant, and when the opportune time comes we can seize the initiative. (it's also worth noting that Conduit "owns" new character design in the same way I "own" events, so ultimately he has final say in Hiro's kit and design.)

But for now, Hiro is on the shelf.

I'm sad to hear this, as I'm about 99% sure I know who this is, and I've wanted him in game since I bought the *ahem* Maniac pack at the very beginning. I'll be counting down the days (as I'm sure many of you all and others on here will be) to when this character becomes more of a possibility!

Thanks for the update! (Bad news is better than no news)
