Please fix Leviathan mirror matches.

At Tie Dagger update part 3 (https://forums.ea.com/blog/swgoh-game-info-hub-en/tie-dagger-update-part-3/5001184) many players, including myself, expressed their concerns about the dagger changes and how it affects the meta. And to call the results anything less than disastrous would be understatement.

Before the change Leviathan mirror matches (with Sith fighter start) had three deciding factors, that I rated from better importance to less. 1. Whose SF gets first and hits (its more important Leviathan coz then ships also go after and get dodge from SF for damaging damaged opponent), 2. Which Leviathan goes first or 3. If Sith bomber resists disruption from Malgus (if it does not, you usually get Sith bomber killed by the time you call Dagger as first reinforcement). If even one of these conditions are filled, you will win, especially since a.i Leviathan calls MK7 too early for instakill. There are many more factors but you get the point.

What are the deciding factors now? Coinflip. That's it. There is also Mk7 starting to reduce the debuffs from enemy sith fleet so you can get faster ultimate if you lose the coinflip but even then the games stretch SO **bleep** LONG, even if you start first. All the strategy, everything to reduce rng GONE. But atleast a Executor plus some Dengar ship cant counter us right? You can only use Leviathan right? Oh boy.

The sad thing is , Executor can STILL beat Leviathan. And once people start to replace sith bomber with MK7 for better mirror matches I can imagine Executor being even better since P1 destroys MK7 stacks so well.  So THE SHIP THATS THE REASON FOR THIS CHANGE IS NOT EVEN AFFECTED THAT MUCH.

Leviathan had such a rough start (and rightfully so, the bugs were hilarious (rip MK7 destroying enemy capital ship)). But after the buffs and changes the meta was fun. People were rewarded to gear up poor old forgotten Sith Assasin. Oh right didnt even complain yet about how many people who R9 Sith Assasin's and wont get refunds.

Im so glad CG ensured that our investment into difficult-to-acquire Capital Ship is recognized with wasted relics on one of the best sith in game (Sith assasin) and relaxing coin flippings.  That was sarcasm and for some reason I feel like I had to explain it.

Just revert the turn meter denial. Protection boost is fine I guess for Dagger, I didnt really care much about it, but what we top fleet meta chaser want is a steady and reliable climb to rank 1 at fleet arena. We are not really worried about some random Finalizer to take our spot since they never stay at top for long anyway and at worst it brings variety to climbing (fighting the same fleet every 10 minutes can get boring, who could have guessed) and  Sith Fighter was, and still is, essential for healthy climbing.

Thank you for coming to my ted-talk.

They'll keep investigating the problem THEY created indefinitely.  I'm sure they'll come out with a ship for profundity next that will counter as well, but still be bugged and screwy when they release it.

Gamers aren't making these decisions, accountants are.  To them, this is "new content" and so what if it doesn't work, it's new content.

  • It's OK for TIE Dagger to prevent enemy Dark side ships from gaining bonus TM. But all they have to do is add an "except while there is an active enemy TIE Dagger".

Just let the 2 Daggers cancel out each other's TM prevention. Problem solved.

Ye could work. Tie Defend wouldnt beat Levi anymore (which feels CG:s true goal since Punisher can still beat Levi) and Sith Fighter is still great at mirror matches.

I agree something needs to change with Levithian mirror match. It’s just not enjoyable to constantly be victim of coin flip. The outcome has to be in the players hands otherwise it just causes frustration.

If including the Tie Dagger in your fleet allows for turn meter gain again, most likely people will modify the levi starting lineup such that sith fighter will once again be a part of it.

I don't agree with cg's decision btw, but the stated purpose was to guarantee that people had to use fury bomber dagger as the levi starting lineup in mirrors, so I don't think this type of change is something that cg would ever consider.

I am just throwing something else out there, of course without the ability to test it, but what if they just gave the tie dagger the same "fleet gains 25% tm when an enemy ship falls under 100% health" clause that the sith fighter has? And maybe change the sith fighter so it removes tm from the enemy fleet instead?

It's honestly not easy to think of a way to change this fleet so that dagger > sf in the mirror. But I am 100% in agreement that the current meta is awful and primarily reliant on winning the opening coinflip. Clearly the old meta was better. It is totally reasonable to make people choose between setting dagger or sf in gac depending on which counters they want to stop.

Possibly you would start with Fury+B28+Dagger.
First Leviathan turn would be sabotage the engines as usual. Second turn would be to call Sith Fighter. At that point you will be able to gain bonus TM so possibly you can still win even if lost the Leviathan coin toss.
This way you still have the benefit of having used Dagger for the mirror, so you have your Dagger defending from P1.

Your suggestion could work as well. Basically, anything that makes it possible to win a Leviathan mirror match even when you lose the coin toss, could work.

Maybe you are right and I am wrong, but in my experience when the enemy levi goes first (and both are using fury b28 dagger comp) they will usually sabotage your hangars before you have the chance to bring out your sith fighter. Meaning that you would never have the chance to gain tm anyway.

I am also not suggesting that your change wouldn't make levi mirrors better, because it certainly would. Clearly the person who goes second should have the opportunity to catch up. But I think that in any situation where the levi fleet is able to gain tm the best starting lineup in a mirror will be one that includes sith fighter, and cg was very clear that they want the best mirror comp to be fury b28 dagger, and not anything else. Which is a totally braindead decision of course, but that is what they have decided.

  • To reiterate one of the very good points in the original post, P1 and executor can still be used to climb.   I used to it today and still worked well vs. Mk-6 starters.    So, yes, the intended change didn't occur.    That is another reason that this change is an abject disaster.

I just want to add something about the AI and Mk 6. Ever since the update, every single time the enemy Mk 6 shows up, it automatically uses its nuke ability. I decide to check if my Mk 6 does the same, so I have a go at mirrors whenever I can afford it. I play manually until it's time for the second reinforcement, then put the fight on auto. Mk 6 shows up. It keeps on using its specials. It's not enough that Levi mirrors are nothing more than a coin-toss to determine who wins, but you somehow make the enemy fleet even stronger?
