How does the Offense increased by 400% Defense Datacron ability actually work?

This is regarding the Datacron ability like:
At the start of their first turn, Imperial Trooper allies gain Offense equal to 400% of their current Defense. Then they lose 50% Defense.

i've seen a lot of conflicting opinions online about how this exactly is applied. And the swgoh.gg mechanic page doesn't really clear it up. Could someone on the dev team confirm how it works with a concrete example like below?

Character (after mod bonuses, before datacron bonuses):
Physical dmg: 5700
Special dmg: 4700
Armor 55%
Resistance: 35%.

Datacron bonus: +270% Defense.

What are the final values of physical and special damage, armor and resistance once the Datacron ability kicks in on their first turn? Please show your math.
  • I'm no dev, but maybe a few replies will get you some attention. I'll have a go, then enigmatic potato will be able to say where I'm wrong.

The 55% armor comes from a table based on an actual number value for physical defence. I found a table on reddit (I have no reason to believe is wrong, but also no basis to think it's correct enough to share the post) that says that 55% armor comes from a value of about 780.
So that 780 is the whole number that gets used and multiplied by 2.7 to get the datacron bonus and land on 2106 defence at the start of the fight (table tops out at 2000 that is about 75% armor).

At start of first turn this 2106 number is used to multiply by 4 for the 400% bonus to physical offense of 8424. We also divide it by 2 to get the final armor of the toon so 1053, which the table tells me is about 62% armor.

    So final numbers are:
    Physical offense: 5700+8424=14124
    Armor: 62%

I have no idea if resistance uses the same table as armor, so I leave that alone.

I notice you have physical damage as 5700, but that is not the same as offense. Damage is calculated by the ability multiplier times offense. Then mitigated by enemy defence. I have calculated as if you gave me the offense. You need to keep these in mind if you want to test this answer.

Have at it other forumers! How wrong am I?
