Hyperdrive bundle

Does anyone know how the hyperdrive bundle works if I'm already level 71 with some 5 star characters already? Will I get the shards to make them 7 star? I'll still get all of the stuff that I'm supposed to get right?

I’m in the camp that agrees that the prices in this game are really, really high. I’d spend more frequently if they were cheaper.

But obviously enough players are willing to pay it that our opinions don’t really matter much.

So it is what it is. Hyperdrive is a relatively great value when compared to everything else in the game, and that is the established yard stick in this case.

I’m willing to bet that at some point down the road, even giraffe and Jarvind will think to themselves, “really, $1000 bucks for an upgrade to 1 character? Ok now this is getting out of hand!”

It’s all relative and companies will continue to charge what people are willing to pay. For me though, the gaming industry has taken it too far already and others will never feel that way no matter how expensive things get.

And that is the way it is, it's all relative. Some people will never understand spending 100s of thousands of dollars on a car, but people do it all the time.

For me, looking at the games that make a lot of money on cosmetics is crazy. I could never imagine spending on a game, just to look different.

I dont necessarily hold the industry responsible, because they are not the ones making the choices, the consumers are. This is not heating your house or food to feed your family, this is a choice a consumer makes based on what they feel comfortable paying for something.

I would love to buy my wife a 2 carat diamond, but its not the sellers fault I cannot afford a high quality one. It is "worth more" than I feel comfortable spending, but it's still just a mineral dug out of the ground....

Ok, I’ll keep it just within the entertainment industry, of which gaming is a subsection.

Compare virtually anything in the entertainment industry to gaming the last 10 years. Most all other subsections of entertainment have had gradual increases in cost, while gaming, especially mobile gaming has had insane exponential cost increases.

Why do you think that is? Why do you think people are willing to spend 2000% more for gaming and only 10-25% more for cable and movies? Could it have anything to do with the exploitation of addictive properties confirmed in gaming?

Do you think movie companies, including Disney are just too dumb to not maximize profits? It’s clearly not a company thing, otherwise Disney+ would cost 3k a year. It’s the mechanics of gaming that allows this insane increase.

Streaming services are in their early years, much like gaming was 10+ years ago. Wait until it hits its boom. (DISNEY +, is here the way it is because they wanted a foot in the door and didnt want to wait for the content generation to be on par, the price is low right now due to low "new content" available, the price will easily double in the next 2-3 years)

While I understand where you are coming from, entertainment as an industry has a different target audience. Yes this is a luxury, but you need to move to a different set, look at cars and boats. They as a whole have very reasonable prices, they also have things that are 2000% of that normal range, much of which is for a name not much change in the technology.

I disagree with you on streaming services.

Over ten years ago I paid 7 bucks a month to have both Netflix services, dvd delivery and streaming. Then they separated the services and almost doubled the price. Fast forward to today over ten years later and the streaming price for Netflix has not changed much at all.

Disney+ will certainly up its price point over the next couple years, I have no doubt of that, but they certainly won’t increase the price exponentially like the gaming industry has done and will continue to do and there’s a reason for that.

  • Let's be honest, all that lovely gear you get here cost more than the pack itself. For almost free. Best pack ever made

That’s kinda like saying Julius Randle is the best player for the knicks. They suck, he’s just the best of the bunch.

But the only reason they will not increase the price that way is because of the target audience. They have a different business model because they can. Making games cheaper doesnt expand the market in the same way, some people just dont play games, or dont play certain styles of games.
  • I just wanted to mention a couple of things. I am normally pay ever so often for the upgrades but after this experience with having previous purchases wiped they have lost my support. I'll play, but not at what I would have. It's just bad coding to have both saying they do not add shards/blueprints and then in the next line wipe them by "topping" them up. Also that it matters what order you buy your shards to get them.

And I did the quick math for upgrading a character. To get them from not having them to seven star (without the equipment) it would be roughly $300 or $640 if done faster. The equipment bundles are more expensive. So with the equipment it is over $1000.

(Using Jolee Bindo and taking into account using the crystal bundle that gives 15,710 crystals for $140, buying the 16 shard crystal pack when it comes up for 1280 crystals ($300) over time or if you buy the character Journey Guide Mega Pack for 2450 crytsals with an average of 12 shards per pack ($642) quicker)
