I think asking the users more would be helpful. Asking officers what they want is a good step. They don't have to actually do anything with what data they collect. Ultimately it's their game and business decisions trump all else, but it would be good for them to hear it so they don;t make assumptions. Here's the thing though. If you're going to ask us, make sure you communicate back with what is being done and a plan.
Here's some examples:
- Content - They have said they want to push out more content and maybe in 2020 they will, but who defines content? To some it may mean one thing and to others something different. Is the new Geo new content? Technically speaking yes, but to some or many it's viewed as a reskin and nothing new really. That being said if we were all stuck on Hoth we'd be even more bored possibly. How about Relics? New shiny picture. Yay! This one always gets me because I see it nothing more than G14 right now. It's the same thing really. You want g7 you have to g rind out some serious gear to get it, just like a g13 grind. People get tricked by the fact you can grind different pieces but what difference does it make. Spending X energy on Gear A versus X energy on gear Y is the same thing. Anyways. Again both example above are technically new content, and while it excites some, it may not excite all or be what people mean by new content. Or maybe it does and I'm in the minority. Who knows? Certainly not me and certainly not CG. If we're talking about what is technically new content or game/play time added then might as well add all the ways to get mods and no cap increase. I spend quite a bit of time each week cleaning up my mods. Does that count as fun new content?
- Gear grind - It was funny how a couple of Q&A sessions ago they said they were surprised there was still such anxiety about the gear grind because they made some changes and assumed it provided relief. In fact it did not. They made a series of changes from adding Kryo gear pieces in general to making certain ships and characters only farmable in GET to increasing to full G13. Add in the Relics and gearing up to G7 is also requires some popular gear pieces and here's the grind/wall again. The only thing they did actually do is adding 2-3 Kryo pieces to your daily payout, but honestly let's not all jump for joy over 2-3 pieces a day. Better than nothing I guess, but come on. Also I think a bump up in some payouts was done too for GAC and maybe TB or TW? I mean I want to be fair here so I'm not trying to leave these out on purpose. I guess my point is that while they gave some relief with one hand they added more aggravation with another and actually exasperated the issue. The garbage ear we all had piled up can be consumed now, but only for low relic level stuff. I've got a lot of purples that would love to jump into a g10 or g11 gear slot. Now that would ease the grind and make more stuff actually useful as opposed to generic filler that gets boiled down into scrap.
- Gear hoarding - Again funny how they say they had no idea people hoarded gear and it wasn't their intent. That's either serious disingenuous or seriously out of touch. I'm not sure what is worse. I guess the former? Anyways if it was the later then at least communicating more you'd get an idea. I mean seriously. With the intro of Legendary to the GET store who in their right mind would spend GET on gear until they have at least 70k stockpiled? With all the last minute panic farming that people do the smarter players try and anticipate who might be needed then hoard up some gear and zetas to make sure that when the event comes around they have enough to complete it or gear up quickly someone they missed in their calculations. If they had enough to complete the event then they've got the gear ready and zetas there to level and bump the character right away.
Feedback from the forums will be littered with trash. Give us 500 stun guns for a pit raid and stuff like that. Sure, but if they're asking the right questions they should get more than enough usable feedback to make better decisions and stop assuming things.
