The biggest thing they needed to do in ships 2.0 was make another tank viable other than Biggs in ANY combo, but they didn't. The republic tanks still only work in republic settings whereas Biggs can go in any fleet because TL is key to most fleets.
That along with the nerfed DPS it just makes his protection recovery that much better. I'm all for making more ships viable and more fleet combinations viable, but that's really hard to do when theres really only one tank that can fit into any fleet.
I think they really missed the mark on the updates to the ships, the reinforcement bonus updates are actually pretty interesting, and I think they did well with those, but overall they just made ship battles more RNG based, longer and more frustrating.
