I unlocked GAS and am unhappy

I am one of the lucky few who had the RNG fall right. I didn't spend a dime on this stupid event, although I've spent small amounts of money inthe past. But t4 was basically the definition of anti-fun.

This just exacerbates the ongoing problem in the game: the developers aren't making the game fun anymore, they are milking it for as much quick money as they can make. First with relics and now with GAS. The gear grind gets worse, and gated behind 7* so you can't even gear all the toons you want (looking at GAS) and there hasn't been anything original added to the game in months. Even if you count Geo TB (which just replaces Hoth TB with a harder version of the same, instead of giving us something new), that was months ago.

The GAS event was promised to be mechanically interesting. Tier 2 was at least somewhat interesting. Tier 4 was just an RNG DPS race, that I eventually won through the grace of RNGesus. There wasn't anything there that could even hope to hold a candle to the interesting and challenging mechanics of the Malak battle. It was just the Padme event on steroids: aimed to force you to spend thousands of dollars to get your toons up to r4 and overpower it... or just bang your head into the wall repeatedly until you magically won.

Geo TB has similarly unfun RNG mechanics. Fleet battles are almost an instant loss if you face negotiator without HT. There is no tactics or strategy that saves you, it's just RNG (or maybe very high relic levels on your pilots can save you.. but r3 marauder doesn't keep bomber alive). The same for facing shaak ti or padme + anakin in the regular missions. It just isn't fun.

GAC ranking is very poorly implemented and cheating just makes this issue worse. Reaching Kyber in divisions 1 and 2 is inordinately hard compared to lower divisions... and in general GAC doesn't reward defenses at all in any way. Individual GA battles are a lot of fun, but the structure around them is very bad. Oh, and if 3v3 is added back without a sandbox where this can be tested, that won't be fun or interesting gameplay either.

TW is outdated and getting stale. We have too many teams available for the limited map size. So everything is always just the same battles.

And through this all, CG thinks relics are "well received" because so many people are getting them. Looool. Completely tone deaf.

  • only want to add, that i bought enough stun guns in the guild event store to typ 1 guild event token...
after this decision to bring another hero in this store, i think nobody in the future will buy anything in the guild event store and saves the currency.
in my eyes doesn't make sense, but some were clever enough and didn't spend the token. the will have much fun with general anakin.

all others have to wait and, when the event returns, all will have saved the currency, the gear and the relic-material.
interesting: could be, that all player have their maxed skywalker nearly at the same time. but i ask me, if the 5star/6star skywalker is really worth all the invested money.

I would add that the way they waited until the event started to officially announce the "recommended" requirements was bad. They should have disclosed that when they announced the event.

Have they ever done that? they always announce the minimum and then there is the in game recommendation. I don't recall ever having the recommendation in an announcement and it hasn't been an issue before.
  • Yeah, this post sums up a lot of my feelings too. My guild has 4 people quitting within the last few days and some even unlocked General Anakin. The Malak event was fun and required strategy. This one involved a little strategy, but it was very heavy on the RNG. I am slowing down to hope I get interested in the game again or I may end up quitting, and I unlocked General Skywalker. I disagree with the decision to require so many tokens again to get Anakin to 7*. Many of us had been spending the tokens on gear as they told us they wanted us to be spending tokens on gear instead of characters. I am getting tired of how much is decided by RNG, and lack of new content and increasing paywalls. If paywalls or going up then we should be getting more content, but we are just getting less value without it.
  • The fact that Malak and now GAS require GET totally contradicts the notion that things will be done to relieve the gear crunch.

I didn't even qualify for phase one, nor would I have for phase four. So, I will grind for the second passing of GAS (dang right pun intended). During this grind I will begin stockpiling GET as Malak was just finished.

Hardest part of this game is seeing that the final pieces needed to complete a gear slot, are available for GET currency, and not spending. So frustrating.

I think this event was at a whole new level since it had such a high difference on what was required to stand a chance and what was required to enter the event.

Malak is the only other character to have minimum requirements to enter but they are similar to what is needed to beat the event. If you met the minimum and played the strategy correctly, you could beat it with that.

As far as I know, it wasn't even possible to unlock gas at the minimum. And the difference between the minimum and where you had a reasonable chance of an unlock was a couple hundred dollars of gear. And that is assuming it can be done with only a couple of each team reliced.

So, yes I would say tgatvthis time is different. The difference between what was announced for malak and what was required (to put it in accounting terms) was immaterial. For gas it was a material difference.

If they expect people to spend on this game, it is not unreasonable to expect them to disclose the actual cost of the character (as far as requirements go) when they announce the event.
