The point I was making, the ONLY point I was making, was that gear affects stats. If you "make the lesser characters easier to gear" so you can play with them, you ALSO make them less useful to gear and play with. Take away all those stun cuffs, and Cad Bane is no longer the character with the highest offense in the game. So what's the point anymore of even wanting to gear him?
You're missing part of Jacen's point. If you look at the mechanics for each character's attacks, you see that their physical/special damage stat is subject to some sort of multiplier, which determines the actual damage range for the attack. Cad could be easier to gear, thus having a lower physical damage stat, and have that compensated for by increasing the multiplier for his attack. 2500 physical damage x 3 = 1250 physical damage x 6.
