In defense of CG (calm down people)

I'll be the devil's advocate here and defend CG.

The past week has been tumultuous, with DSTB bugs, yoda mythic backlash, hSTR, etc. But some of you folks have definitely overreacted...

YODA MYTHIC

firstly: NOBODY lost any rewards. We're all just assuming that the next time it shows up, there won't be any mods. Now, this definitely may be true, but all they're saying is that they will remove mods until they figure out how to display the thing properly. this DOES NOT AFFECT ALL MYTHICS, so calm down.

DSTB

The "substantial makegood" has yet to show up. If it's bad, I'll be handing out pitchforks, but let's just wait and see. If they compensate us properly, there's no need to get pre-emptively upset.

hSTR

DISCLAIMER: this refers to players who have a GP of about 1.5-2M or above (i.e. played through the CLS meta or before)

The arena teams you've possibly built include Titans, Nightsisters, RJT, zzEP, or the like. RJT murders P1, zzEP can get you 2%, Titans nets 3/5 for Chex Mix, and you're more or less Heroic ready.

TB has already made clear they want strong players to band together and weaker ones to stick together. hSTR is just another step in this direction.

If you're a whale, move to a proper guild. If you're someone who thinks he's not heroic ready, look through your roster, build 3-4 teams and put forth an application on any of the guild recruitment areas.

If you want to play with friends, fine, but don't expect to get Traya or G12+.

  • In defense:
+ Some new characters are very nice
    + graphics are nice
    + mod change is nice

    But also critic is needed:
    - Sith raid is bad (except p2, way too much hp, way too rng)
    - Sith raid rewards are bad outside of t7
    - TB ship change is bad
    - Fleet 2.0 failed (just cash in at payout and never think about it anymore until next payout)
  • Been through a few guilds that farm Traya. Most of the time it's just the top 20-30 guys carrying the raid, and many simply post zeros. My opinion on the sith raid has changed, and I no longer think it's so unobtainable anymore. 4-5 pertinent teams and 25 guys with the teams and you can conceivably clear the raid. Granted, some of the rosters are a bit challenging to compose, like nightsisters, but if players focus on building these teams it will be built.

Most top guilds are focused on TB and TW these days, and its not so important to have a sith roster stacked top to bottom. In terms of payout, because HSR is still the ultimate end game content right now it should be rewarded accordingly. Do you think it makes sense to make them available to level 70 players doing non heroic raid?!?!?! You wouldn't expect to make 100k working at McDonald's as a cashier, so why would you expect to earn g12+ gears doing pit raids?!?!

If they want to keep the gear 12+ rewards exclusive then ok. Lower the difficulty or health pool of T6 and below, and still improve the rewards. Doesn't need to be gear 12+, but from what I have seen currently better rewards in the lower difficulty raids... In heroic sith players outside top 10 deserve better rewards.

I usually finish top 10 and I don't really notice a huge difference when I don't. I can't speak to the rewards differences. But in many guild that are farming Traya, only about 20-30 people actually hit the raid. I'm sure you can agree someone who simply tag the raid and take zeros shouldn't be paid out like a boss either. I can see perhaps in guilds that are barely making it with everyone getting their 2 % might feel differently since the output gap might not be as big, but in my guild where the top 15-20 people are clearing the raid for the rest, i feel the structure works well.

I'm in mzee's guild and he rocks the raid. The problem is there are a large group of us we are in the same damage range and 2 through 15 vary simply on rng on a given raid. Everyone's argument should be that without rng and if we have the ability to evaluate and learn mechanics to differentiate ourselves why should someone be penalized so drastically if they miss spot 10 by 100k? If you were simple mechanics next raid maybe he overcomes the 100k. But it's RNG and next raid he could be 100k up or 1.5 million behind based on RNG. In the end you probably tire of it being all luck and leave the guild or stop trying.

I'm not a fan of RNGsus but it's part of the game and there isn't much we can do about it. There has to be a cutoff, and whether you missed it by 10 or 100k it is what it is. It's just an attempt to be objective when it comes to determining pay out. The guy who finishes first by a few million isn't about the RNGsus. He/she either has the mechanics down or has a great roster. The bell curve will apply to the rest of us.

Nice work O.P. You trolled the entire SWGOH community.

Yes evidently nothing enrages the community as much as daring to suggest that not everything that CG does is kitten and that not every aspect of the game we all play for fun stinks

Welcome to the Star Wars fan community! It's more toxic than the Cuyahoga River, which--to be fair--has only caught on fire twice!

CG can make things right by doing these 3 simple things:

    1. Communicate. Most of the frustration from the player base is the complete lack of communication. Be honest and communicate with your player base even if it makes a few players mad. The rest of us will appreciate the honesty.
    2. Respect the source material. Not having key characters like Jedi Luke (he's on the loading screen!) and having 4 Hans and 3 Chewies with neither of them piloting the Falcon is not honoring the source material.
    3. Listen to your fanbase. We offer pretty good suggestions for the most part. I get that you're all about making a profit. You can find a balance.

To be very fair, I've seen worse. There are forums where admins dont communicate with people at all, unless it's announcements about something or someone insults their game and asks them to do stuff better. CG is a lot better in terms of communication. Points 2 and 3 I agree with lol.

Sounds like you are describing the current state of this forum

There’s no real defense lately. These forums have gone almost completely silent, say for some bug announcements and a random update here and there. That’s not the promise they made to their player base back in April. Perhaps if they kept their word and didn’t go silent after broken updates, people would be more calm

Then go nuts. Don’t be calm, go crazy, see how they handle it.

I really don’t understand the commotion here. If EA/CG has abandoned us, or they just won’t respond to anything, then what is the point of this discussion? To yell over the dinner table about the missing food? (Horrible analogy (If you can even call it that!) but I think you get the point. Did I just double up on my parentheses?)

To put it simply: If they won’t listen, then we stop playing. They make less money. They learn from their mistakes, or the game goes down in flames, of which both paths would be fair. Or we can blab about it to no end, only to realize we wasted our time here, and we could’ve been at the beach with our families. I mean, they were doing fine until about December 2017 in my opinion.

So I say to you fellow Star Wars fans, (or not), they can give us better communications, ships 3.0, reworked STR rewards, TOR, Mod Management, less spending more getting, and Darth Jar Jar... or they can give the game Death!!!

    Who’s with me?!
