Inflicting distraction 20 times in chewyoda character quest: is there a bug?

Ok, I want to make something else clear since you seem to not grasp all the ins and outs of this game yet...For the character quest you need to inflict the specific debuff "Distracted" which unlocks at character level 45 on Choda,

but you also need 215 Yoda & Chewie shards to claim the quest.

In your picture, you only have 65 shards. Which means you missed out on all the extra shards from the marquee, making the crystal/money cost to get the extra shards even higher (these are shards for the singular, specific character "Yoda & Chewie," not your sum total of shards for any characters named Yoda and Chewie). This batch of character quests ends in three days, so unless you are willing to cough up 28,578 crystals in that time, or 19,485 plus the equivalent of around $50 USD, you are still not completing this quest. There's an episode quest lasting longer, but you still need the $20 USD episode pass to claim that one.

And that's OK if you don't claim it; character quest sets happen every two weeks with each new character. If you are not prepared to spend money, you will leave a lot of them sitting unclaimed. They are not for you. They are extra rewards for the players who spend more. Don't let fomo dictate what you need to do in this game. The majority of the player base misses the majority of these quests. Don't panic and feel you need to get them done.

I have been F2P with all of this Era's stuff, and have him at 41 currently.

First of all, thanks everyone for answering. I’ll summarise what I think about it all below, mostly in case it would be helpful for the game devs:  

a) I’m a reasonably new player (playing for about 2 months with one cold reset after the very first attempt). I did not realise that the character quest would last for so long, and thought that all Chewie-related tasks will expire once it moves onto Ventress or whoever the next character would be. So, I’ve “panicked” thinking that because of this single incomplete task all effort spent to do the rest of them will be in lost in vain. 
b) As it worked for other tasks very well, I thought a solution outside era-specific battles: grinded all the way to Journey Path  Chewbacca and Commander Luke, tried chewie & threepio, borrowed commander Luke etc., because I’ve read a few (apparently misguiding) advice I’ve googled/ geminied for. Obviously, it didn’t work. So, I’ve lost quite a lot of time and also 500 crystals on additional (useless) colosseum battles, and was told these are not refundable by support. 
c) So, after all it is not a bug, but rather an incomplete man page (wish I could just do “man distraction” in a shell) It is rather counterintuitive, and not really hinted at anywhere, as I’ve only found the right answer after posting on this forum (wish I would’ve done it earlier). Also, I had quite a few silly suggestions from support to relogin and reboot iPad that made me smile. 
d) Overall, I hate RPG-likes where you have to leave the game to google/genai or ask at forums how to pass some quest, as otherwise you are stuck no matter what you do (do you hear me, Owlcats?) I thought I found one with a familiar lore where I can just play along and have fun… until this **bleep** distraction bit, so a spoiler. I guess I’m not alone. 

As for my chewyoda, he’s at level 42 now, and I’ve only spent 1200 crystals once, so I should be fine grinding to 45 and completing the task once done. Merry Christmas everyone!

I guess I have more of a problem if it really is 100 times. That will take a heckuva while. I guess new players might not have been able to farm Vulnerable in Jar Jar event like I did, so maybe they're used to the grind. But 100 seems excessive for such limited options.

I don't like it either, for the same reason. Era crap was supposed to be kept separate, and it plainly isn't. Quests are not Era content, and they're connected to Era crap. 

That said, the quest is available until Nov 2026, but it won't take you that long. Once your Choda hits Era lvl 45, and the next set of anniversary quests drops on the 30th, you should be getting a trickle of Distract attempts from just playing Coliseum. 

My Era units are lvl 42/43 rn, but I have the Episode pass. F2P, I'm guessing you should be closer to 35 if you've been actually playing and progressing through the Coliseum to get progressively higher tier materials. At worst, you should hit 45 around the 5th marquee event, if we extrapolate from what we've seen so far. And then, once the Era ends in mid-Feb, you can just throw your Choda at the GMY JG event, repeating as many times as you like for no energy spent (Choda is a Jedi, all Jedi are eligible for the GMY journey) to stick the debuff on enemies in that battle and farm the quest that way. 

The idea of grinding a quest until November doesn't sit right with me. Yes, of course I'm aware it almost certainly won't take that long, I just don't like the Era exclusive (for now) debuff being required for journey quests, despite CG's claims that Eras wouldn't impact the rest of the game.

The anniversary quests will be available until Nov 2026. SLuke will be joining the legacy roster in February. You'll have time to complete the quest. 

If it's it one of the anniversary quest chain has, people will have a year to accomplish it; there will still be grumbling about having to wait for something that people were anticipating as a free gift, especially as they are mostly a benefit for newer players. However, they are all supposed to be at 65 by the end of the era, so when Ventress drops next week, most people can probably get to 45. If not then, probably before Barriss.

It will if the data mines requiring “Inflict Distracted 100 times” for one of the upcoming LST reqs are accurate, but thanks for the info

I spent about 700 crystals on the Era crap packs in the first week of SLuke (something I wouldn't do again in hindsight and won't in the next Era) and apart from that, I buy the Episode Pass (the cheap one, just to unlock the premium loot track). 

The quest is only available if you buy the Episode Pass, btw. If you're F2P, the quest doesn't matter to you at all.
