To have an arena shard and coordinate hitting non shard members down so that only shard members can reach top 5? These guys are instantaneously licking non shard members out just to be jerks. They are...

Nothing is wrong with that. It's just a different approach. However, it will completely change the economy of the game resulting in far more crystals being paid out unless CG also reduces the rewards significantly. CG probably already estimated the impact of such a change on spending, the player base etc. and chose not to change the current system.
