It may or may not be a problem for the top 100 and spenders that keep this game going, the impact of such a solution needs to be studied from the game's economy perspective.

its not about the top 100 in arena, players who love GAC will love this, players who do not will not.

from the economy perspective, I would imagine that this wouldn't work. the prizes to be "even" to what they are now would be a very large increase in crystals going out. As a whole there are a lot more first place winners in GAC than there are for arena.

I agree. But that would solve the OP's problem ;) Not unreasonably a the same time :) Regardless whatever the solution or status quo, there will be always players who would like it or those who would not. So long as the game makes money, that's the main drive for CG to solve something or leave it be.
