They already pretty much said they just put whatever tags they want so it won’t break the game. It is the reason GL Rey isn’t a Jedi in this game.

I think in the opening crawl for the movie it mentions that he’sa Jedi Knight... I could be wrong though

If you're talking about the character in relation to the event, the CLS event is set during a new hope but the character you unlock is from the empire strikes back.

Think he means character in relation to the tags. He's given a Jedi tag, but going off OPs post, he does not think Luke was a Jedi after ESB.

Jedis are supposed to oppose the dark side. Vader is a Sith who is related to Luke. So to become a Jedi, he must overcome the dark side within him.

I think It’s more like “you have to face your fears” than “you need to face a sith to become a jedi, even though the jedi order had for a long time lots of jedi masters that never faced one”
