The real questions you should be asking are these:
1. Is Shaak Ti worth it? The answer here is yes.
2. Are 501st clones worth it? the answer here is also yes.
Since both of those are worth it, "Is KAM worth it" becomes a question of "Is KAM worth a half hour over on the 50ShardsOfKAM discord server?" Yep. It's a fun mission with a wealth of complex strategic thinking available to you from people who have completed the mission before. You can learn some basics and run off on your own with a 40% to 50% chance of getting the shard on your own -- but you get the pride of accomplishing it yourself -- or you can hang out and watch people that stream 100+ times/month who have a much deeper knowledge of the mission, then take your turn getting advice from them and have a 95% chance of getting a shard, while also having some fun watching some truly epic missions now & again. On 50SoK you'll see g12 Shaak led squads get a shard. You'll see Fives killed before sacrifice can happen, but the team still gets a shard. You'll see runs that come down to one clone, Jango, and the Reek and watch Echo take out both enemies with a single, final grenade to win the mission.
There's a lot of crazy stuff that happens there. It can be fun to watch, and when people fail (as will inevitably happen - even with well qualified clones it's a 95% chance, not 100%) even the failures can be fun to watch, and people can pat the poor person who lost on the back. When you stream failures don't sting as much because you have others to console you, and the victories are even more fun b/c you have people cheering you on. And, of course, you also get approximately double the shards you would get if you did the mission on your own.
Get Shaak & 501st because they're worth it. Do the KAM mission because it's fun -- either as a challenge on your own, or as a group event with your guild or with 50ShardsOfKAM. You won't be disappointed.
