Lackluster Omega Abilities
I firmly believe that investing rare omega mats into an ability to max it out should provide a significant boost to the power/utility of the ability. Whether it ups the damage by 15%, reduces the cooldown by 1, or simply increases the effectiveness of applying buffs/debuffs, an omega ability should be what its name implies - omega!
Certain omega abilities are fantastic and really compliment the role and kit of the toon to which they belong. Some examples that come to mind are:
Fives: Dual DC-17 Blasters (bonus attack against targets suffering speed down)
Ima-Gun Di: Jedi Strategist (+25% counter damage)
IG-86: Assassin Droid Tactics (cooldown -1)
These omega upgrades all significantly boost the power/utility of these toons and help them compete in the meta (with the right supporting cast). However, some omega upgrades seem terribly dull and lackluster. A few glaring examples:
Geo Soldier: Aggressive Advance (+5% damage)
Eeth Koth: Anti-Droid Specialist (+5% critical damage when attacking droids)
Poe Dameron: Challenging Shot (+5% damage)
As it stands now, I will never be able to justify investing omega ability materials into these abilities. The bonus that is given is simply too small when weighed against the rarity of the mats and their value in upgrading other toons, who stand to gain much more significant bonuses. Buffing these ability upgrades could offer some redemption. Poe could be given a higher chance to inflict offense down and Eeth could gain turn meter from attacking droids. GS is already a meta character who arguably doesn't need a massive omega boost to make him more viable, but the omega bonus on his basic should be a bit more compelling than +5% damage, which is regularly attained in normal upgrades for a variety of toons.
Beyond the three examples given, I think that careful tuning of omega abilities presents a fantastic opportunity to make underused toons like Boba Fett a bit more viable and appealing (at least until they can get the rework they desperately need). Overall, I want to be excited about maxing out all the abilities of my favorite toons! I just need to be able to justify the investment.
