Late mercing killed
CG changed the rules: a players can participate and earn rewards only if he was a member of the guild at raid start.

There have without a doubt been some dirty tricks played using this method, but I have personally seen it done in good faith more than once. It helps build networks without forcing mergers or losing your strongest members due to the inability to get over the hump.
