Legends Era Idea: Grand Master Luke, Darth Caedus & the Yuuzhan Vong

With the current Era of Myths & Legends, and especially the addition of Mara Jade Skywalker, I started thinking about how much potential there is for a future Era focused much more specifically on Star Wars Legends and the old Expanded Universe.

I know Myths & Legends already includes some Legends material, but the theme of that Era is much broader, mixing characters and concepts from very different parts of Star Wars.

What I would love to see someday is an Era specifically centered on the post-Return of the Jedi Legends timeline, starting with the New Jedi Order and the Yuuzhan Vong War, and potentially expanding later into Legacy of the Force.

Mara Jade Skywalker could be the perfect starting point

The new Mara Jade is actually what made me think about this idea.

She already represents Mara as a Jedi Master of Luke Skywalker's New Jedi Order, so instead of her being just a one-off glimpse of that period, I think she could be a great bridge toward introducing more characters from that timeline.

Some characters I would love to eventually see include:

• Jaina Solo
• Jacen Solo
• Anakin Solo
• Ben Skywalker
• Corran Horn
• Kyle Katarn as a Jedi Master
• New Jedi Order-era Luke Skywalker
• More members of Luke's New Jedi Order
• Nom Anor
• Tsavong Lah
• Shimrra Jamaane
• More Yuuzhan Vong
• And eventually Darth Caedus

There is so much material in Legends that this would not even need to be limited to one Era.

CG could start with the New Jedi Order/Yuuzhan Vong War, and if players respond well to it, later move into other parts of the Legends timeline.

The Yuuzhan Vong could be one of the most unique factions in SWGOH

I think the Yuuzhan Vong have huge gameplay potential.

Because of their unusual relationship with the Force, they could have special interactions against Jedi and Sith without simply being completely immune to Force users.

For example, they could resist or modify certain mechanics commonly used by Jedi and Sith teams.

They could also have entirely new mechanics built around things that make them unique in Legends: biotechnology, living weapons, sacrifice, pain, and their very different approach to warfare.

That could make them feel completely different from any faction currently in the game instead of just being another standard team with a new skin.

Galactic Legend: Grand Master Luke Skywalker

If a Legends-focused Era eventually became large enough, I think the ultimate character to build toward would be Grand Master Luke Skywalker, representing Luke during the New Jedi Order and later Legends period.

I know Jedi Master Luke already exists as a Galactic Legend, but I think this version could still feel completely different.

They would come from different continuities and represent very different versions of Luke.

Grand Master Luke could represent Luke at the height of his role as leader and Grand Master of the New Jedi Order.

His requirements could naturally include characters introduced throughout the Legends content, such as:

• Mara Jade Skywalker
• Jaina Solo
• Jacen Solo
• Anakin Solo
• Ben Skywalker
• Corran Horn
• Jedi Knight Luke Skywalker
• Members of the New Jedi Order
• Yuuzhan Vong characters

His Ultimate could represent one of those moments where Luke reaches an extraordinary level of unity with the Force.

Instead of just being a huge damage ability, it could temporarily increase his Speed, Offense, Defense and resistance to control effects, making it feel like Luke has stopped holding back.

I would not want him to simply be "stronger than every GL because Legends Luke is powerful." He should still be balanced around the game.

But his kit should make you feel like you are using the version of Luke who eventually became one of the greatest Jedi Masters in Legends.

And later... Darth Caedus

If CG continued exploring the timeline, I think Darth Caedus would eventually be the perfect opposing Galactic Legend.

I actually think it would be better not to introduce him immediately.

First give us Jacen Solo during the New Jedi Order period, along with Jaina and Anakin Solo.

Then, much later, CG could make another Legends-focused Era based on Legacy of the Force, where Jacen's story eventually leads to Darth Caedus.

That would make his arrival feel much more meaningful.

Jaina Solo could also become an extremely powerful Journey Guide, Legendary or Conquest character, especially considering her importance to that story.

Why I think SWGOH is the perfect place for Legends

I understand that Jaina Solo, Jacen Solo and the Yuuzhan Vong are nowhere near as recognizable to the general audience as characters from the movies or current Star Wars shows.

But I actually think that is part of why SWGOH is such a good place for them.

This game already brings together characters from completely different periods and corners of Star Wars.

It can introduce players to characters they have never heard of before and potentially make them interested in the stories those characters came from.

A Legends-focused Era would not need to replace canon content or compete with it.

It could simply be another part of the huge Star Wars sandbox that Galaxy of Heroes already represents.

And speaking personally, Mara Jade Skywalker already made me spend a significant amount of crystals.

Her release is actually what made me realize how much I would be willing to invest in an Era featuring the Solo children, the New Jedi Order, the Yuuzhan Vong, Grand Master Luke and eventually Darth Caedus.

I know a full Legends-focused Era might be unlikely.

But with Myths & Legends already opening the door a little, I would love to see CG explore that side of Star Wars much more deeply in the future.

Even if only part of this idea ever happened, Legends has enough unexplored material to give SWGOH new characters, factions, teams and events for years.
