GC's are created to get players to expend resources and RL dollars) to build characters and ships they might not normally build. That's why ewoks and jawas are so popular in GCs, because so many have ignored them for years.
They throw in "easy" ones that require characters for GLs too of course, but the goal is to get you to relic your whole roster. I wouldn't be shocked if a GC pops up this year requiring "Ughnaught must survive" to appear and/or Nightsister Initiate, since Rey won't prevent her from dying.
