OK so here's the problem with that point. The OP found it easier to use a 7* malev. That doesn't mean that the GC is easier for 7* malev. OP took 5 battles with malev before they got the win, I however took 2 battles with a different FO line up and got the win. This doesn't mean that the FO squad was easier to win with either, it just means that I found it easier.
Then you need to look at resource investment, I got away with winning with a 6* FO capital ship with 3 abilities maxed (as much as they can be maxed with 6* ship) and slkr min requirements regarding relics and 7* ships. OP used a 7* malev (get 2 tokens), vulture druid (normal energy farm), hyena bomber (fleet energy farm) ontop of the 5 first order ships that I used.
To me it seems like the "theory" of GCs which Op stated was "to test the breadth of your roster" (which I don't agree that this is the "theory" behind GCs) and it seems that they completed that. It has been beaten by malev and 2 druids, chimera and 2 empire ships, executor and 2 bounty hunters ships and a first order fleet. Seems to me that they are testing the rosters quite well considering if you didn't invest into x fleet but you invested in any 3 of the other fleets, you have a chance to complete the GC. Now if this GC was only able to be completed by a full first order line up, that would not test the breadth of your roster, just a very small amount of your roster (in this case first order fleet)
It honestly seems like the OP doesn't want a talk about the teory of GCs (as indicated by the title of the post) but just wanted to put out their opinion and then shoot down anybody disagreeing with them.
