They throw in "easy" ones that require characters for GLs too of course, but the goal is to get you to relic your whole roster. I wouldn't be shocked if a GC pops up this year requiring "Ughnaught must survive" to appear and/or Nightsister Initiate, since Rey won't prevent her from dying.
I've never once even considered an upgrade for a GC. T9 box is fine sometimes.
