Lost that Lov'n Feeling
I’ve been playing this game for a long time. I used to log in because I enjoyed the progression, the team-building, and the sense that what I built actually mattered.
That feeling is fading.
In a recent Squad Arena match, my Relic 10 Leia Organa squad timed out against a single Relic 4 Rotta the Hutt. A Galactic Legend team stopped by a brand-new non-GL character at low relic.
This doesn’t feel like natural power creep. It feels like a deliberate strategy: release new units strong enough to make existing teams feel outdated, then force players to keep spending just to remain competitive. When a Relic 4 non-GL can neutralize a high-relic GL team this easily, the message is clear — the only characters that truly matter are the newest ones.
For players like me who care about the larger Star Wars storyline, many of these new characters feel artificially overpowered relative to their place in the lore. It breaks immersion when a relatively minor or newly introduced figure can casually overpower established Galactic Legends.
I don’t want to leave. I’ve put years into this game and I don’t want to let my guild down by becoming inactive. EA knows this. They’re counting on the fact that long-term players will stay out of loyalty and habit, even as the joy gets steadily drained away.
The game used to feel like something you built over time. Now it increasingly feels like a treadmill designed to keep people spending just to keep up.
