His only loss was trusting Anakin. On top of that we can see him as an absolute monster in the Clone Wars series.
Not to derail the thread, but consider that we never actually saw him die. Far less powerful Jedi have survived greater falls (Though he could have been unconscious from the force lightning and splattered). I'm not arguing that he's still alive, but it would not be completely outside the realm of consideration that he is still around and kicking.
He's dead. Because if he survived he would of healed his wounds and got straight back into it (and I'm not saying he got straight back up BTW, he could have crawled away and healed over several days).
But the personality of the character shows that he would have tried to right wrongs as soon as possible, no way would Mace allow sith lords to live while he was still breathing.
And that is why he is such an awesome character!
I generally agree; however, the time between him taking the fall and the remaining Jedi (Yoda, Obi-Wan, etc.) going into hiding may have been too quick for him to recover and join the fight.
He may have been quick to act in the Clone Wars, but he wasn't foolhardy either.
Keep in mind that I'm pretty sure Lucas intended to kill him off; however, Lucas' numerous faults as a filmmaker may have opened the door for new-Canon writers to bring him back. Maybe not on film, but perhaps elsewhere.
