Mara Jade

Her being in SW 9 is a significant step though.

The above said, the only Legends characters currently in the game are from KotOR. So I wouldn't get your hopes up.

Unless you dont count Thrawn? Which they brought by bringing him to Rebels. It makes complete sense to bring her if she is in SW 9.

I don't count Thrawn, because Thrawn isn't Legends. He's thoroughly canon. He has his own book in new canon, soon to be two, and he's the ultimate antagonist of Rebels.

As to Mara in nine... I really don't recommend getting your hopes up on that one.

They're casting a character whose code name for filming is Mara. No way it's Mara Jade.

Since you apparently dont like reading you can just scroll down to the last paragraph to find that Thrawn is thoroughly legends, not canon.

I personally think they will introduce a Jade type character, if not Jade herself to be Reys mom. Jade was massively popular and i think Disney will try to tap into that like they did with Thrawn. Zahn himself said he was getting pressure to add Jade to the newest book series.

I am quite aware of who Thrawn is, thank you very much for that charming bit of condescension. However, Thrawn is very much in current canon. He was legends. Then, they brought him back. Now, he's canon.

Mara is very much not canon.

Many of the things they bring into new canon from Legends have versions, oftentimes very different. Given Thrawn is unlocked using Phoenix squad, it's safe to conclude they're drawing from the new canon version, and more specifically his Star Wars: Rebels appearance, not Heir to the Empire.

The only characters not in current canon right now in this game are from KOTOR, and arguably some of the generics.

That is exactly what I said. (The whole reading thing again) He is legends, they brought him to Rebels making him canon. Being Canon now does not make him less legends.

Jade is Legends. If she comes to SW9 she is canon. If she is canon she may come to swgoh.

Its the same scenario.

If its cool with you I will go ahead and go with the starwars.com opinion and 30 years (almost) of history to say he is Legends instead of internet forum poster guys opinion.

At any rate, heres hoping that Jade makes it to SW9 and SWGOH at some point.

I use "Legends" in the sense of, "They are old canon, but not new canon." If you use "Legends" to mean, "They were in old canon," it becomes an almost useless term, because if that's the case, Luke is Legends.

So, by the useful definition of the term? Mara is Legends. Thrawn is not.

Now, as to the subject of Mara Jade in episode 9? That would have to be a very different Mara Jade, to the point of being a completely different character, risking much more fan backlash than if they introduced a new character inspired by Mara. Thrawn, on the other hand, is the same character, and was simply a refinement of what came before, and a case of Zahn mellowing out some of his excesses.

As to the notion of Mara being Rey's mother? That's the literal worst thing they can do with the character. That Rey's parents are nobodies is thematically key. Turning her into the daughter of magic superspy Mara Jade now would be worse than when Naruto turned around and made his bloodline the mostest specialist thing ever after volumes about overcoming despite coming from nothing.

Besides, it's obvious that Rey is the abandoned daughter of Lone and Vespa Starr.
