Maybe it gets better?
I've been playing since year 2 with a short break for mental health partway through. I've spent a decent chunk, probably about average for a long term non whale. (Small purchases here and there, LSBs, conquest passes, episode passes, the odd $5-10 pack when I can spare the cash or it has decent value, etc) more spent than im proud of or care to admit for sure.
I was really looking forward to eras, the isolation, the new marquee system and coliseum, etc etc etc. I thought it would bring some much needed vitality to the game and the new character grind. I was really ready to breath new life Into things. Relic Delta was always going to be pants, but the rest I was really excited for.
Now that it is here, I think it is the worst thing CG has ever done for the game ever possibly. even worse than relic delta. I actually can see myself adapting to delta easier than to the era isolation(i still do not like RD.) I think the isolation/coliseum is awful. I hate it. The forums are filled with posts about it being greed motivated and I don't disagree but beyond that it just feels terrible. It's all polished slop.
I want to play with ST Luke on a Rebel team. not in 80 whatever days, not against some bs nonsense monster, not with a team I'll never use him with.... none of this makes any sense. New players are posting constantly about how confusing this all is and the justification was to make it better for them and for us, but they hate it and I hate it, I miss my game.
Maybe it'll get better but... right now it sucks.
Im not spending any more. What happened to actually delivering some form of content? The bosses have no uniqueness. they are variations on "Single targe/Aoe/One Tiny Mechanic" Like what the hell man? I could come up with this in an hour.or two and write up the kits in a couple more. it is complete and total disrespect especially when they are asking for the sheer amounts of money they are. again Silksong is $20. Have some self respect. i will NEVER give this company another dime with this in mind. they just don't deserve it. Team cherry worked for seven years and they charge as much as ONE SIXTH OF ONE CHARACTER UNLOCK IN SWGOH to experience the entirety of the culmination of that endeavor.
What kind of person do you have to be to think that Stormtrooper Luke is worth six times more than Silksong? Eight times more than Hollow Knight? six times more than Hades? Twice as much as Baldurs Gate 3? etc etc. I know it isn't literally a 1:1 valuation but thinking of it like this I can't escape wondering how many hours I get out of the money I've put into this game vs a game like those. again the comparison isn't perfect but it certainly puts some things into perspective and it doesn't make this update look any prettier.....
Maybe that's dramatic, sure. I'm usually fine with the value proposition for certain things, like, if the episode pass was $5, I would get off my high horse INSTANTLY and jump back on the spending bandwagon.
Maybe not instantly, but still. This update feels really awful right now and here's hoping it isn't always like this. Cheers fam
