This was a big set of changes, and one we needed to do for the long-term health of the game.
Why? Well, a couple of reasons:
At the level 70 cap, the top end of the game was very much focused on speed and quick burst damage. There were fairly constant complaints on the forums about the domination of this particular strategy, and complaints that there were not enough viable squad builds.
As we were working on building out the level 80 cap increase, and even projecting beyond level 80, that “speed meta” only got significantly more dominant. This was leading to cases where one party could demolish the opponent before they got a chance to move. Not good.
Furthermore, the number of viable characters and squad builds also got narrower. Also not good.
The problem with this last update is
not that you made it harder. Its
not that you altered the meta or ruined an expensive/beloved character(s).
The problem is the complete and utter disconnect from what you did, and what you claim you are trying to do. And even now today you seem totally oblivious to this fact. It makes you seem careless, disconnected from your own game, and incompetent.
Why was Ugnaught nerfed? Why were the Jawas nerfed? Why was Mace nerfed? The list goes on and on. Not only were there characters already weak, but
they wernt even fast. Then you BUFF Ahsoka? I don't use her, but as I understand it, she IS fast.
Not once has there been any hint of why there were nerfs on poor characters.
You also havn't talked about the real reason the protection bars exist. Its not to slow the game down. If thats what you wanted, you could have just boosted defensive stats and health. No, the purpose of the protection bar is to nerf healers. Again, you have never communicated this to us.
And at the end of the day, you claim this update was to bring balance, but you have only narrowed the meta, not broadened it... Hope everyone likes Royal Gaurd, because we are about to see a lot of him.
