It's time to wake up; if you think that any of this wasn't pre-planned then you are asleep. From unleashing mods on us, to the reaction on the forums, to them saying we've heard you and are nerfing drop rates. Maybe precraft was a mistake, maybe not, but my guess is that it generated a spike in income that the publisher has been trying to reproduce. I can only imagine they have far exceeded their goal in the past 48 hours and I would also guess it was timed because of another popular freemium app.
Sure they may do minimal game mechanics testing but I bet the weight of decision making is on market testing. Do this, receive this response, and then do this in return to the expected response. Unfortunately this is the future of gaming and likely the same model will be hitting AAA and console games thanks in part to the success the publisher is having here.
We all have jobs to do and earning to provide for our families is what's important; there is no point in hating on those that are delivering the content to us. As long as people are opening their wallets to this model the ones delivering it are only doing their job whether they agree with the principle; can't feed you family on principles. Everyone here has made a conscious decision to spend or not spend, transferring wealth from your family to theirs. As long as this continues then to expect anything different is unlikely to happen. Wake up and smell the cash.
