Mythic Event - BB-8 Unlocked or 7*?

Are the Mythic Events available to everyone who has unlocked the character, or only those who have completed all tiers of the Legendary event? Here is a direct quote from the 12/6 Content Update: "If you haven’t yet unlocked BB-8, but manage to do so before the end of the weekend, you will still be eligible to participate in the Mythic version."

So if I "unlock" BB-8, I can participate? Or do I need 7*?
