I wanted to reply to each paragraph. However, I realised that I'd say practically the same thing to each.
We have a toilet pipe that in the past has been prone to getting blocked. And with our new Sumo wrestling friend 'Reriko Deruta' moving in soon our landlord 'Mr C.G' sees a potential 'large' issue with this old broken pipe.
OK, so common sense would suggest replacing the pipe, maybe with something a little bigger than can handle Deruta-sans rather sizable disposable waste.
"No, no" says Landlord C.G. Instead of being neat and fixing the problem 'cleanly' (no pun intended) and slightly more costly. C.G adds a little counter-flow gizbit here and tension oj-blog there. Then tweaks a gazmijajibbit there, then takes the whatsit out and puts in a whadjacallit there. Adds this and that to the original pipe. and voila you have loads of new things working absolutely terribly with the old 'crappy' pipe.
If our large thong wearing friend 'RD' has to move into the building. Take out the dodgy pipe and replace it with something better. Something that will last. Exactly the same as, If RDs are going to cause issues with feats, change the feats to something that won't cause issues. If players have been having issues with feats in the past, then those feats should not be in the future. It's the same old problem we had with Galatic Challenges.
Don't add ugly game mechanics to compensate for dodgy game mechanics. Have something that is intuitive and doesn't leave a bad taste in the mouth.
I really don't like it, and it's something I want to avoid at all costs. I'd rather farm datacron nodes for like 3 pieces of whatever they are, with a positive 'win' outcome. Rather than, battle a node where I can't win with a Bush Llit data-disk that's trying to compensate for a CG created problem (Reriko Deruta-san) on top of a CG created problem (problematic feats).
