I’m a 2015 player. And I think these packs are great for the game. Some of the best value that has ever come out to the game in all these years. With the game being as old as it is now, and with as much as there is do to, it’s good to have a way for people to catch up a little more at a good cost. Or for new players to get a head start.
People will complain about it. They had to grind for months to get them. I get that. But this has been the case for many things in this game for a long time. Way back in the day, you could only get Darth Vader by completing achievements. That was one of the longest grinds ever. Then finally, he was added to a shop and shipments etc…. Massively shortening the time it took to get him. You could look at all of us old time players trying to get DV grinding through achievements only which took forever and put us in the same spot people look at these packs today. But I didn’t mind when DV was moved to an easier path to obtain. It’s the growth of the game. I had finally finished DV maybe a month before he was added to other areas. And that’s fine.
Then there was the $5 toon packs early in the game too. You could get yourself a Dooku for $5. That was a massive boost to those who didn’t have him. Some got him the hard way. Others paid $5 to get him a lot quicker. Same sort of thing.
You can go through one thing after another over the time frame of this game. There are new ways to try and help catch up. New ways for new players to get a head start. And that’s fine. People said the same thing about the Hyperdrive bundle. And probably the same thing when it became discounted to half price permanently. All those people who spent $100 and now it’s $50. It’s fine. The game has grown.
These packs aren’t getting you a GL as soon as you buy them. They are helping you get through a big grind in a short amount of time. An that’s fine. While yes these are still useful characters in the game, they didn’t just offer GL Leia packs for $10. Offering packs to help get ahead on the original GLs shouldn’t be looked at as a bad thing. The game economy has changed over the years. And this is a good way to help new players especially get a head start and even some current players try to catch up a little bit. Imo, it’s a good value and a good thing they are doing.
