For old characters receiving the "Mercenary" tag, is there a reason that Vet Chewie isn't receiving the tag while Vet Han is? The two have synergy with each other as well so it would be great to see them both have the tag to keep on the same Mercenary team.
My guess is that because Chewbacca stays with the Resistance even after Han is gone, he’s more so considered a formal member of the Resistance as opposed to a mercenary hired by the group. If I remember right Han was planning on only helping the Resistance up to a point and then dip wasn’t he? It’s been too long since I saw The Force Awakens, so the specifics are a bit fuzzy in my mind.
