New mod slice dropping rates

I just spent 400 energy, did x5 sims on four different 'bonus' drop points: got zero drops. Is it working?! This is the bonus time so... What is this?

The drop rate is what it is. Everybody is freaking out too when we have no idea at this point what materials and what quantities will be needed for slicing.

I'm less concerned about the drop rate and more like why do we need so many different types of slicing materials to farm.
