Go back about 3 years when they needed to rework the backbone of the game to start making content easier to produce. Every content creator was complaining about there being nothing to do in the game.
"I can't play in P5 and P6 because of relic 9". You aren't reaching P5/6 anyways, you have 4 full phases to master beforehand?! Focus on getting the 1st phase done before worrying that P6 is relic gated.
I think that the TB maps, music, layout and content are a huge improvement in SWGOH. This is a fresh way to do a TB and it's clearly built to feature new character releases and I'm sure Relic mats/gear in the future.
This isn't a step backwards, it isn't whale only(they ain't doing P5/6 either) it's a new content delivery system and set of goals for a game we all play regularly and gives us a clear indication that they have plans to release more for the game as it goes forward.
I'm sure some comments will argue with me about the points above and miss the overarching comment I am trying to make. The TB improvements are good overall and the vast majority of players will find this TB good for them to to build their roster and make the game more fun
Simple answer to “why are we complaining?” If the intent is for every path to take multiple years to master then the modular aspect cg touted is pointless. There will be no need to introduce a new path before 2025. No one was expecting to beat the entire tb in a year but this is repeating the mistakes of ls geo. A far more reasonable design would have been ls starting at r3 going to r8 with the anticipation of replacing it in a year. Ds r4-r9 replaced in 2 years and mixed as it was released.
This would have made the content more accessible and taken advantage of the modular design and set them up to release more pve content than a once every 3 years approach. Instead we get unplayable content for most and those that do reach it likely won’t be able to beat it because the characters you’ll need to succeed haven’t been designed let alone released just like ls geo.
