Much as I hate the thought, yes, a reset as if the mods never landed is the fairest option.
As long as any purchases for crystals since that time are honoured, ie any bought should be available as if bought but not yet used.
That would negate the need to refund while at the same time the players aren't shorted in any way.
Anything less will be a fudge and players will feel they've been conned.
Surely this is feasible?
