It's easier to rollback time than it is to pick apart a whole bunch of transactions.
Plus a lot of players wouldn't have bought crystals, or cantina energy, or credits at all had this debacle not happened in the first place.
Refunding all crystal transactions would be a real pain to manage. I get that, from EA's viewpoint. Easier to let the crystal purchases stand, but keep them unspent in the game. At least it wouldn't be a financial loss in real money, EA gets to keep real cash and players have crystals to spend how they please.
As for time, frankly we're probably better off sweeping this mess under the carpet altogether, move on as if it never happened, and treat it like a bad dream.
