I actually like that he checked in, but it would have been loads better if he did not just repeat his last post on the topic. And then he explained each point in his last post as if we could not understand. That is the part that got me. In general, RyDiggs contributes great things to the forums. I look forward to his inputs on most topics.

Do you really, honestly believe that it isn't possible to be condescending in writing? Because that is utter absurdity.

Tell me what my emotion was when I wrote this.

Did I say that it's possible to identify every emotion of an author? Or did I say that it's possible to be condescending? Cause I'm pretty confident I said only the latter.

Did I say that it's not possible to be condicinding in a message? I said you read things as YOU see them, not necessarily as the person writing them.

My whole point of this thread was to ask a simple question from the developers so I could better prepare my guild for what is to come. Am I happy that toons who are P2W are in platoons? Not at all. But I understand this game is functioning because of people who spend. Of course they and their guilds should be rewarded for that as it encourages further spending. It hurts for now but when they become farmable I will be farming them to help my guild. Until then I'll work on the guys who are currently farmable that I don't have 7*.

Writing can absolutely convey emotion. In fact, most non-technical writing is usually rated by things like tone and the ability to convey emotion. It absolutely possible to convey condescension, which is what RyDiggs did here. Going to your consumer base and providing the kind of feedback presented in the response to me is either a blatant attempt to belittle/condescend ("let me explain this to you extra slowly") or the tone-deafness of someone who shouldn't be speaking to the consumer base.

It would've been simple to respond and say "Sorry if there was any confusion, but what I meant was that the platoon requirements for Hoth were not going to be changed, and we would consider the feedback as it relates to future maps." That would've been simple, direct, and not condescending. However, it would've required admitting a mistake -- albeit the simpliest, smallest kind, of miscommunication, which the devs here seem loathe to do (see, for example, the devs throwing the youtubers under the bus on the HRS 7* requirement).

Sadly, every time it looks like the devs start to improve communication, they then take several steps backwards.

Everyone that's been playing for over 6 months should have gotten enough shards to unlock him when he was the login character.

And the person you are responding to said WILL have a surplus of Pao's SOONER or LATER, not that they do right now.

Requiring a few is fine but you are really setting a guild back a lot to start farming poa's. What if he isn't required last week? I have phoenix and resistance toons to farm from there as most people do. With currency needed to farm mods, Poa is in no way an easy farm. Especially considering he's useless.

Clearly he has a use in platoons, que no?

That's a lot of effort and valuable currency to have a chance at a character popping up random.

The reason Pao is a pain is because he competes with Hoth Rebel Scout in Cantina Shipments, and pretty much everyone's been farming Scout since Hoth TB was announced. I just got my Scout to 6* (max requirement for combat missions), so switched gears to putting a few more stars into Pao. I suspect over the next few weeks that Pao will be much easier to work with in platoon missions as more people do the same, so this is at worst temporary.
But I don't feel the same about the unfarmable ships, no end in sight for them.

Alright. when TB got released, there was a perspective shift.

Before that the most important areas in the game were HAAT, fleet, and squad as they were the sources for your crystals, gear, and zetas.

Guess what they are now? TB, fleet, and squad.
Guess which one is most important right now? TB.
Eventually it will shift back to a kind of 3 way tie, but for now it's TB.

So Pao is now a needed character for the currently most important game mode. I'd say that makes him one of the most important characters in the game, and it would be NOT farming him that could really set a guild's progress back.

Pao just went from being useless to important. My guild is seeing a lot of CUP requirements. Guess what? CUP's not useless anymore either.

This game mode was designed to realign our thinking about which characters were good and which were bad (to: "there are no bad characters". Clinging to those conceptions is only going to hurt you, not get CG/EA to change their minds.

I totally understand that the design of the game is intended to be profitable and that new content is developed with the intent to drive revenue. I have enjoyed the new releases and character content. Especially CLS, which I felt was a fair way to reward long-term players regardless of being free to play or otherwise. The frustrating part about TB is that the characters / ships that are locked behind a paywall are hitting so early. I'm a fairly reasonable person and if new ewoks or rare ships pop up in the 5th and 6th phases of TB, hey, I get it; spenders get better rewards. Encountering them in the early phases is discouraging and makes it difficult to keep the guild engaged because they feel its a fruitless endeavor. I have fun playing TB and would make two suggestions to improve the enjoyment for all.

1) update platoons so that characters / ships unobtainable through in-game currency (excluding crystals) or specific nodes do not appear until phase 5

2) when you hold your finger on a character, instead of it navigating to your character, navigate to a list of players in the guild that have that toon available / meets requirements. Because characters are duplicated across multiple platoons, it would help leaders get a bearing on how many they can fill across all platoons. The way it's laid out right now requires too many mechanics outside of the game in order to manage deployments, platoons , and battles. So, it's no longer and "in-game experience".

I hope these can be incorporated into the existing Hoth TB and future TBs. Not the current one we're battling, but just in general.

How does one argue that Squad and fleet aren't more important than TB? Squad is still far more crystals and is definitely more important. Fleet has zetas. More important. Not sure it's that close considering you are 1/50.

I find the response condescending as well. Nothing was answered and what, I think, is trying to be said is inconsistent with the other changes that have been made.

And the idea we should drop people so we can find those that have Millenium Falcons? But, right, Guilds are all about having mini leaderboards to face off against.

I keep forgetting if you want to have real group effort and participation you need to find your Arena mates and work with them to get practical results.
