The dislike of flash events is entirely down to the limited time to play them - an hour duration in the middle of the working day isn't reasonable - and it's far worse for anyone who happened to start their game in a different time zone
If we must have them then make them 4 hours long or let them appear 4 times a day with a 4 hr cooldown ... they still get the traffic but it is much more reasonable for players that also have lives to live.
Real content would obviously be better still. It's been a very long time now.
