Purge AFK accounts

No, many players stop playing for a while and come back. Why should they lose all their investment just because you can't beat players who are not playing.

I'm assuming you're talking about GA. If you can't do a battle against 1 team (fun fact you don't even need to win the battle) to get your 10 points, than idk what to tell you. Math might be hard, but 10>0 so if they're truly AFK, you shouldn't be losing to them.

I think this more an issue of afk accounts still being in the top rankings of GAC and not falling out.  You aren't going to be playing against an afk player in GAC unless they quit in the last day or so because you actually have to sign up for GAC to be in it.  I would love to have matches against afk players, but GAC requires you to actually hit a button to be included.

I thought rankings were updated to include just those who signed up for the current GAC. AFK keep skill rating so they jump back in often higher as we get subjected to squish when actively playing but they do not fill up rankings whilst away.

If you're referring to GaC, and the odd accounts at the top of the Kyber ranks, those aren't afk accounts. There's some sort of bug that has elevated non-kyber accounts to the upper tier (or they're cheaters, but that'd be quite the scandal if so many cheaters were so openly and knowingly at the top this long). Either that, or CG has filled those ranks with those accounts purposefully, to further squish people out of top rewards. Either way, they've been there awhile, and everyone else competes via all the other sincere ranks.

If you're talking about Squad/ Fleet Arena, then that's incredibly immature and selfish to request people's accounts be kicked, considering many people take breaks and return. They also won't be there forever if they never return; eventually, others in your shard will surpass their strength and knock their ranks lower and lower. So it's not a real issue. They earned those slots, they get to keep them for as long as it takes others to claim them from them. 

It's pretty messed up you want accounts kicked out just for in-activity. You didn't say cheaters, you said those who haven't been active for 6 months. If any game banned players for taking breaks, who would want to play, knowing we might want/ need a break someday, and why put in all that work if it'll be destroyed if we take a break? Rethink your gaming values and ethics, they are questionable at best.

I’d support this as a player who left for almost 4 years then made the mistake of coming back.  It would have saved me from getting addicted again.  You want it done for selfish reasons though, I can’t get behind that.  #gitgud

In GAC, afk accounts purge themselves. That show the sign up feature in GAC works. Given this, I think you ran into a brick wall of an account, and they won off of having a higher gp. Im probably wrong, but you're probably overreacting.
