R2D2 and C3PO character and power ideas - in line with LORE

So we have those classic droids which are staples of SW and much beloved.

But our original droids have little combat prowess. C3PO has essentialy zero combat skills.

How to introduce them to a combat game then?

They would come in as support characters focused on control.

C3PO
Rebel, Droid, Support

(BASIC) We're Doomed! - calls in a random ally to protect him (attack an enemy) with his basic attack.

This is similar to Ackbar's special skill, but Ackbar's power is very underpowered in the bonuses it gives to the attacking ally. (AA's power needs a buff badly.)

Threepio mutters this sentence at the very beginning og EPIV.

(SPECIAL) Sir, the odds of survival... - Grants the party Tenacity, Potency, and Advantage.

The counterpart for han's 'Never tell me the odds!', the positive taunt C3PO makes to push for survival.

(UNIQUE) I have a bad feeling about this. - When a party memeber takes damage, it gains Evasion Up. When it evades, it gains Turn Meter.

Many characters say this throughout the movies, at least once per episode. But it fits better the yellow-colored robot.

(UNIQUE) What have you done! - C3PO has 100% ressurect chance and ressurects with 100% HP. If he is the last character standing, the team is defeated. The ally with the highest turn meter loses 50% turn meter when C3PO ressurects (spends time to reassemble him). C3PO other passives are disabled until his next turn.

The passive disable and turn meter removal are an incentive for the enemies to try to kill C3PO regardless of its immortality.

Excerpt from when Threepio complains to Chewie when he is reassembled with the head backwards in EPV: "Wait. Oh my! What have you done. I’m backwards. You flea-bitten furball!"

Animators should make him get a chance of spawning with red arm/silver leg/head backwards.

C3PO has a nightmarish series of dismemberments and reassemblies throughout the series, he is effectively immortal. Having no attack capabilities between his limited mobility and programming, he is automatically defeated when there are no allies.

(LEADER) The Golden One - On each party member's turn, the debuff with the least duration has its duration reduced by 1. Whenever a debuff is removed in this fashion, the character gains foresight. Ewoks and Rebels have debuff duration reduced by 2. Debuffs with a negative effect on expiration (e.g. thermal detonator) are removed without triggering the negative effect.

According to Ewok mythology the Golden One is their God and would come to them. When the rebel party was held captive by the Ewoks, they mistook him for the Golden One when Luke lifted him in the air with his force power, and they were released. Ergo remove debuffs.

R2D2
Rebel, Droid, Support

(BASIC) Electroshock Prod - Basic attack dealing little damage but very high 80% stun chance. 40% chance for a second stun against Empire enemies only.

Like RG's basic.

(SPECIAL) Objectional Bleep - Removes turn meter and applies speed down for 3 turns

R2D2 is known for locking up doors and generally slowing down the enemy in rebel infiltrations.

(SPECIAL) In the nick of time - Grants 30% Turn meter and removes all debuffs from party. For each debuff removed, party gets 5% additional turn meter.

R2D2 has saved the heroes skins several times, turning the tides of battles and taking them out of tight situations, such as the trash compactor.

(LEADER) Beep boop Beep boop - His intel gives Rebels + 23 speed and other heroes half as much. Also, Something about ship synergies (not yet in game).

  • Artoo does not do direct damage throughout the series, apart from the occasional shock prod. It is invaluable support to both delay the enemy and save the heroes'collective posteriors.

@Brazilian_Joe Did this not mean anything to you???
  • Doesn't count. in the original trilogy he doesn't fly nor uses weapons.

The concept for the character is the REBEL R2D2 and REBEL C3PO.

By the timeof the original trilogy his thrusters were nonfunctional, out of warranty and had no replacement parts, and during the whole trilogy he never resorted to direct attacks.

What was retconned in the prequel and animated series is a different matter, but that's (mostly) before there was a rebellion.

I believe my argument still stands, but I am not the ultimate authority in the timeline, if you are more knowledgeable in the timeline, please enlighten.
