GA is ridiculous
Why am I constantly being matched up against players with MUCH higher GP? I have under 1 Mil GP with zero GLs and only 3 characters above Gear Lvl 11, yet I continue to be matched up against players with 10 Mil GP and 20+ characters relic 5 or higher. This is not fun for me. I have ZERO chance at even competing, nevermind winning. There HAVE to be players who are more closely matched to my roster, right??
The ranking doesn't match by roster size, it matches by Skill Rating. It's not quite as simple, but the basic principle is: wins increase your SR, losses decrease it. You get grouped together with 7 people closest in SR to you. There are big accounts in low divisions that either don't care about consistently playing GAC (because then they'd rank up and move into higher divisions) or they win the easy matchups and then lose everything once they're facing rosters of a similar size and actually have to compete.
Crystal rewards for winning a match and daily crystals from GAC ranking both increase as you climb trough the divisions, so if a player like that does this deliberately, they're not even benefitting. You'd get more crystals from consistently losing in Kyber than winning everything in Carbonite. I'm not kidding.Kyber 5
180 x 28 = 5040 (daily crystals)
9 x 200 = 1800 (losing all 9)
3 x 100 = 300 (3x weekly #8)total in a 28 day cycle: 7140
Carbonite 1
75 x 28 = 2100 (daily crystals)
9 x 110 = 990 (winning all 9)
3 x 750 = 2250 (3x weekly #1)total in a 28 day cycle: 5340
It's extremely poor judgment on CG's part that they have been ignoring this problem for years. However, given the debacle from a while ago when K1 shrank to near nothing because CG's algorithm ran away with dumping people out of K1 and CG apparently didn't even know this problem existed, it's entirely possible they have no idea about the problem of low SR big accounts in low divisions. It spoils the GAC experience for new players.
The only possible "workaround" is to do the following: in these lopsided matchups, send in whatever to die, score 10 points, and call it quits. Sometimes you might win like this if the opponent just doesn't show up. Play the reasonable matchups and try to win. Eventually you should slowly build up enough SR to leave these huge accounts behind, not because you have a bigger roster, but because their SR will be too low to be matchup up with you in a GAC bracket.
