Sure, everyone want to play with their friends, but how's that fair to ppl that tried for it?
Well that's exactly the problem - there's seems to be a perception that providing (non-monetary) avenues to get high end gear to players that don't want to leave their guild is somehow unfair to the people that have already done so. This is rather like saying, "we all had to deal with this problem so don't fix it because everyone else should have to feel this pain too."
I don't necessarily disagree with what MasterSeedy is saying - I'm just not expecting anything I say to make any difference. At the end of the day, if you want to stay in a smaller guild and still get the gear, you have to pay for it with money. Ironically, at the very top end, if you want to stay with your guild and CONTINUE to get the gear you'll likely be pressured to pay for other things with money just to keep up (Datacrons and Marquee characters say hi). This is the nature of most progression based games - the difference is, in most progression games you can't just out-right buy the gear you want. At least that's an option here, even if the prices are abhorrent.
But let's leave this idea of "fair" at the doorstep. It's not about fairness - it's about giving players options and maximizing enjoyment of the game - which on it's face would seem to be a desirable thing to a game developer, and the people that are playing their game. The problem is how to do that while maintaining the high level of profit that the game has enjoyed up to this point.
