Raid omis

i know it wont happen but would be nice letting us Repurpose a Raid omi

*IE : if you have the omi on a char from bike raid at time of start of the new one refunding us it

in a Final fantasy game they let totally deconstruct end game gear once a month to repurpose it thus giving up time to try it out. could be tied to the Jawa scrapper some how.

kinda sucks how omi will eventully becomes worthless
  • i think letting people refund total once a month would be fine and a great way to test omis.
  • I get where this idea comes from, but I'm not sure it would be healthy for the game. Would greatly diminish the ressource management perspective and would give a massive advantage to older accounts.

You would be able to almost carelessly apply omis and then recycling the older ones as newer come out, which I get would be nice from a personal perspective, but would also mean that pretty soon all slightly older accounts would have all the new omis and dispense with the old ones that had fallen out of use.

I imagine it would hit CG's bottomline quite noticeably as well as omis would be greatly devalued as you could also use this to stick TB omis on all TB toons until you had time to relic up enough squads that you didn't need the omis anymore and then recycle them for TW/GAC.
  • From my understanding of what was said when the new raids were announced. That their plan was to release new raid every so often until they had enough to do just that, and rotate the new raids as the feature raids perhaps weekly or monthly..
  • Rotating them every 2-3 months would be more appropriate. Even though they would be "old" raids for me (and presumably you) there are still going to be people climbing up from humble origins and it will be more tempting to upgrade for a particular raid if you know you've got a month to upgrade a whole team and then another month (or a bit more) to enjoy the benefits. Otherwise the raids won't be enough of a motivation to upgrade toons.

Sure, maybe you get the same use out of the newly elevated toon per year, but that's still not going to motivate the newer/mid players. It's not that you're going to get use out of it (or not) but that you'll get MORE use out of it than some other toon. If all the raids are rotating quickly through then there is nothing about the raids to tell you which of the many toons used in the total set of raids is better than the others. Where if you know it's one raid for a couple months, then the raid is much more likely to be a tie breaker in which toon should be upgraded next.

Weekly rotation will breed roster complacency. Monthly rotation less so, but it's still a tight time frame to upgrade a whole squad and then get some use out of them. Bi-monthly is probably about right for the scenario you're portraying.
  • Even when previous raids start getting recycled back, there is still not enough incentive for most players to apply them, because of the reward structure. It's just not worth the omi mats to get to the second or best box on the personal track. And on the guild level, like TW, you need enough guildmates to go for it to make a difference. That's tough for most guilds.
