Relic Delta Treats The Symptom Not the Disease!
First, I want to start off by praising CGs attempt at fixing a core issue with the game, recognizing and being transparent with the path it is currently on.
However, Delta Relic isn't how you fix the problem. It will be a temporary relief but after a year there will be a huge problem with people enjoying a game that completely removes strategy as a viable option to win.
This issue with SWGOH is found in its systems on GP, Gear, Resource Nodes, and most importantly Player Interactions. This leads to an overall poor experience for new players, a long stagnation period for veterans, and pure boredom for seniors. All these roads combine leads to poor player retention.
Galatic Power System
GP determines so much in this game. Your matchmaking, which events (individually and as a guild), you have access to. A system this important needs to properly measure the power of a players roster and it currently doesn't. The actually roster power difference between 10 mil and 12 Mil is more massive than the actual power gap between 3 mil and 10 mil. This is due Galactic Legends not giving the appropriate GP for a unit that maybe have 2-3 bad match ups. Now, GAC has 10 mil GP players playing against 6 mil GP players because the difference between them and 11 million could be 3-4 GLs and an impossible match up so they get pushed down. This creates a ranking system where there is a lot of 8-9 million players in BRONZE. Think about the time or money investment you need in this game to get to 8-9 mil and you are STILL BRONZE. How can any new player enjoy that. I am currently in Gold 4 and I only have 4 GL's and the only way I win is if the player doesn't play because everyone I play have all the GL's with a 50/50 on Ashoka and obviously no Hondo and but they do have Leviathan so I am already limited to only being able to clear 3 zones. The ACTUAL Power difference between our rosters are massive but our GP's are inly separate by 1 Million. Deltic Relic doesn't fix this. This GP issue effects TW as well but that game mode has been an after thought for a while now so I won't speak on it much.
Solution: CG really needs to reevaluate what GP is suppose actually measure and find ways to do it. Galatic Power doesn't reflect the actually power level of a roster. Deltic Relic won't fix this and GAC has about one more year left before your best game mode becomes stale.
Gear System
You have recognized the pit falls of the current gear system. However, Relic Delta will still require you to actively manage the system in the future for newer content. It doesn't free up staff to work on new content.
Solution: The gear system and requirements should be standardized around a Legacy System, and a Current System. Remove stats from individual gear pieces and put all stat increases into the gear level itself. Any character (excluding Journey Guide and Conquest Characters) that is 2+ years gets removed from the current system and placed on the gear progression structure for the Legacy Content. This speeds up new player progression for character that aren't useful in the meta but required. It frees up staff from having to create and manage another gear progression system for the next generation of toons. This is how you recognize that newer content will naturally be better than older content without hindering progression.
Resources Nodes
Resource nodes have little to no synergy. I understand this from a new content approach but this is an awful experience for new players trying to catch up. Legacy Content being spread out is a HUGE hurdle.
Solution: Legacy content should drop more shards OR have better synergy with similar content.
Player Interactions
The current state of the game heavily rewards strong players to play with strong players. Meaning that any player that is in a guild with lower players is being serverely punished. This is a terrible experience for new players and old. Invite a friend to play? You can't play with them without making a new account. Invest in new content for the raid? You can't do tha raid unless you go to a guild that also has players that invested in the content. Newer Players feel stranded and I don't blame them. I also don't blame stronger players for not interacting with them because the cost to do so is massive!
How do you expect a community to survive when your player based is sereprated into districts like the Hunger Games?
Solution: Fix Raids by not completely blocking out MK3 Currency. Less is fine but completely missing out on a whole type of currency because of who you choose to play the game with is WILD. Fix TW. Fix TB. Fix the whole guild structure and what it is supposed to represent. Why can't we interact with our guild outside of this? Why can't we have a sparing dojo where people can place squads for other people to challenge or learn how to fight?
The Guild feature is just a Wall to separate the "haves" from the "have nots" and punishes any "haves" who choose to associate with the lesser class.
