The whole point of this is FOMO. Their lack of communication is also part of the deceptiveness to get us building up characters we can't even use yet because it'll get us to spend more money on the game. Another reason why they upped the era character levels, so we'd spend more money on them because they weren't making enough money on previous era seasons.
And they've gone months before without communicating anything with us. This isn't a new thing, though the last year or two shows us the decision makers at CG are on auto-pilot. They aren't concerned about what players want, only in what creates revenue. Years ago when Carrie was in charge, she communicated with players fairly regularly, even doing podcasts with content creators. At this point we don't even know who's in charge at CG and I'm sure they prefer it that way because their golden parachute is secure regardless of what happens to the game.
Most of us who have spent money on the game are fine with CG making money, but whoever is in charge wants to keep moving the goalposts to increase revenue off whatever garbage can be created with the highest cost-benefit analysis numbers. (such as datacrons and coliseum)
